I love Jamba Juice as much as the next person, especially during these summer months when a nice refreshing blend of fruit just hits the spot! But, when I decided to live a #keto lifestyle and focus on a #lchf diet, I had to give up these yummy smoothies (yes on cheat days I can still indulge, but I don’t have to with my yummy alternative!) Unless you are aware of the nutritional facts of the foods you eat, I bet you didn’t even realize how “bad” Jamba Juice really is. You might be thinking…”it’s just fruit, its good for you!” Well, I hate to break it to you, but juice (which is a main component in a lot of the items on their menu) has a REALLY HIGH carb and sugar content. For example, see below the nutritional facts for the medium (aka original) size of the Strawberries Wild Smoothie: Nutritional Facts: Calories 370 Sodium 140mg Total Carbohydrates 86g Dietary Fiber 3g Sugar 75g Protein 5g Their Make it Light option has about 1/2 the calories, carbs, and sugar. Now, when I became aware of my carbs, fiber, sugar, and protein intake, and then saw the above information, I was appalled! But, just because I choose not to drink Jamba Juice frequently, doesn’t mean I cannot enjoy a nice fruit smoothie! So, today I made a berry smoothie with the following nutritional facts: Calories 100, Total Fat 2g (Sat Fat 1g), Cholesterol 10mg, Sodium 110mg, Potassium 232mg, Carbohydrates 14g, Fiber 4g, Sugars 4g, Protein 8g . . Net Carbs 10g! . . Now the recipe: – handful of ice – Carbmaster Vanilla yogurt* – 5 or 6 strawberries (4 if they are large) – 1/2 cup raspberries – 1/2 cup blackberries – a splash of mixed berry Sparkling Water (only enough so that the blender works) – 2 drops of Wild Orange essential oil (optional)** *I get this at Ralphs because it has a low carb count. If this is not available in your area, you will have to substitute for a different yogurt (like plain Greek yogurt), which will change the nutritional facts **Essential oils bought in store are NOT safe to ingest, please use a high quality essential oil. I choose to use #doterra oils. Please contact me to purchase. For more #recipes, #essentialoil education, #followme, or DM me for contact info
